The Metropolitan Museum of Art is located on Fifth Avenue in New York City, USA, adjacent to Central Park. The museum was incorporated in 1870 and opened two years later. With a collection of over 2 million items, it is the largest art museum in New York City and one of the foremost in the world. Its permanent collections are divided into 19 collection areas, with a total of 3 floors in the exhibition hall, comprising numerous thematic galleries.

It houses a collection of more than thirty-three thousand objects of fashionable dress and accessories,from the 15th century to the present,covering the styles of different times of various ethnic groups across five continents, making it the largest one in the world.

The collection features more than 2,500 works from the 13th through the early 20th centuries. There are representative works from various genres from classical to modern.

It focuses on American plastic arts, exhibiting more than 20,000 masterpieces by American painters since the late 17th century, as well as American handicrafts,furniture, decorations, etc.

Asian Art

它的馆藏超过 3.5 万件，是西方国家中最大和最全面的，其中来自中国的古代珍品最引人瞩目：青铜器、瓷器、古家具、字画、雕塑等应有尽有。

With a collection of more than 35,000 pieces, the Asian Art is the largest and most comprehensive in the West, among which ancient treasures from China are the most eye-catching:bronzes, porcelain, antique furniture,calligraphy paintings, and sculptures,etc.

其一是整座的 2400 多年前的埃及丹铎神庙。神庙每一块砖的位置在重建时都按照编号复位的丝毫不差，令人叹为观止。

The entire Egyptian Temple of Dendur from more than 2400 years ago. Every brick of the temple has been meticulously reassembled according to its numbered location, making it truly breathtaking.

其二是文艺复兴早期意大利艺术家杜西欧的版画《圣母与圣婴》，画上的颜色由蛋彩和黄金组成。这幅画创作于 1300 年左右，2004 年大都会艺术博物馆以 4500 万美元从私人收藏家手中购得。

The print Madonna and Child by early Renaissance Italian artist Duccio, which is composed of tempera and gold on wood. This painting was created around 1300 and was purchased by the Metropolitan Museum of Art from a private collector for $45 million in 2004.
