The National Archaeological Museum of Athens is the largest museum of ancient artifacts in Greece, located in the central area of Athens. It was founded in 1829 and opened to the public in 1889. It houses a vast collection of highly valuable artifacts from various periods across Greece. The museum has over 50 rooms, including halls and exhibition spaces. More than 11,000 exhibits offer the visitor a panorama of ancient Greek culture from the beginning of prehistory to the late antiquity.

博物馆前厅的中路是迈锡尼文物陈列区，其中的金制面具、器皿和装饰品最为著名。中路的两侧为雕塑陈列区，有各种战具。再往北就是青铜器陈列区。二战后建成的双层后厅为陶器陈列区，陶器的造型和陶器上的图案显示出希腊艺术优美、精细的特点。

The central aisle of the museum’s main hall is dedicated to Mycenaean artifacts, with the gold masks, vessels, and ornaments being the most famous. On both sides of the central aisle are the sculpture exhibition areas, featuring various weapons. Further north is the bronze artifact exhibition area. The two-story rear hall constructed after World War II serves as the pottery exhibition area, showcasing pottery shapes and patterns that highlight the beauty and intricacy of Greek art.

The Jockey of Artemision

这件1928年从希腊沿海打捞出的稀世珍宝，其历史可追溯至公元前150年至公元前140年，由青铜浇铸而成。庞大的战马与瘦小的少年形成强烈的对比，但从整体看，给人一种奔腾的神韵，充分反映了古希腊高度发达的冶金技术和雕刻艺术。

A rare treasure was salvaged from the Greek coast in 1928, dating back to around 150 to 140 BC, cast in bronze. The massive war horse and the slender youth contrast sharply, yet together they convey a sense of dynamic movement, fully reflecting the advanced metallurgy and sculptural artistry of ancient Greece.

Mask of Agamemnon

这件珍宝于1876年由德国著名考古学家施里曼在希腊的迈锡尼城发掘。面具精巧与细腻的程度是强盛一时的迈锡尼文明最好的证明。

It was discovered in 1876 by the renowned German archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann in the city of Mycenae in Greece. The intricacy and delicacy of the masks are the best proof of the flourishing Mycenaean civilization.

Antikythera Mechanism

这件珍宝于1901年在希腊安提基特拉岛附近的沉船中被发现。它被誉为古希腊最古老的“计算机”，用于计算和现实有关天文现象的信息，是一种描述太阳系天体运动的手动机械设备，能提前几十年预测太阳系天体位置与日食、月食现象。

It was discovered in 1901 in a shipwreck near the island of Antikythera in Greece. Known as the ancient “computer” in ancient Greece, it was used to calculate and display information about astronomical phenomena. It is a manual mechanical device that describes the motion of celestial bodies in the solar system, capable of predicting the positions of celestial bodies and eclipses decades in advance.
